Terms of Use
Voices in the Static · Effective 6 October 2026
By using Voices in the Static you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
For entertainment only
Voices in the Static is an entertainment product. The words it shows form by chance in computer-generated random noise, which your phone's motion sensors help to stir. They are shown as they formed or, for a sentence answer, chosen among and put in order by an AI, which cannot add words of its own. A sound marked in Listen is a measurement of the room's own amplified noise, not a voice. What the coin reports is a count of fair random flips set against what chance does, not evidence that anyone moved it. A figure drawn in Sight is a body-tracking program's guess at a human shape in your camera's picture, and it guesses wrongly at shadows and objects by design. Nothing it says or shows is a message from, or evidence of, any person, living or dead, and nothing it says is a prediction or advice of any kind: not medical, legal, financial or personal. Do not make decisions based on it.
Answers are generated automatically. They can be wrong, strange or unsettling. If something it says troubles you, stop using it.
Who may use it
You must be at least 13 years old, or older if the law where you live requires it.
Questions per day
The free version allows a set number of questions each day, shown in the app. The full version has no daily limit in ordinary use. We may change these numbers.
The full version
- The app is free to install. The full version is a single purchase, sold and billed through Google Play at the price shown before you confirm. It is not a subscription and does not renew.
- It removes the daily limits on questions, on Sight (the camera view), on Listen (the microphone) and on the coin, adds the tuning and sensitivity controls, lets you open a circle that others can join, and gives a number of sentence answers each day, shown in the app. We may change that number.
- The purchase belongs to the Google account that made it. It unlocks the app on that account's devices, up to five. If a purchase is refunded or reversed, the full version is taken away again.
No refunds
All purchases are final. We do not give refunds, except where the law or Google Play's own policies require one. Refund requests for Google Play purchases are handled by Google.
Fair use
Do not try to disrupt the service, get around its limits, access it by automated means, or use it to harass anyone. We may suspend access for misuse.
No warranty
The service is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change or end it. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from its use, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the three months before the claim.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Continuing to use the service means you accept them.
